Hey Alex, are you thinking of going down for this?

I'm hoping to go but I won't decide until early September.  It depends on whether I can get the family to go down with me and I've been able to put in enough miles to make a reasonable attempt at it.  There's also a 3 GAP 50 miler for those who are interested but don't want to go 100 miles.

Alex, if you're not going down with your family, you want to go together?  I like to go, but I don't want to drive down myself.

Definite possibility.  Again it might depend on the weather forecast since it is hurricane season.  It is approximately a 15 hour drive so it might require taking the Friday before and the Monday after, off from work (which I think I could do).

FYI Finger Lakes has 5500 feet of climbing, 6 Gap comes in at 6300, Hastings Highlands 2100, and the Halton Hilly Hundred 2200.

Yeah, it would be a long drive down to northern Georgia and I also think we would have to take off the Friday and Monday.  There's a possibility of stopping by the Air Force museum in Dayton, OH (if you like that kind of stuff) depending on which route we take (I've been there before).

I not keen on driving into a hurricane either.

I think the climbing numbers you have are half of the actual numbers.  Highlander should be 11,000, Six Gap they say is 13,000.  I'm not sure about the others, but I don't  trust MapMyRide cumulative elevation numbers.

I check the hotels in Dahlonega and they are already fully booked.  They had some rooms left in Gainesville, 20 miles away.

Hey Paul, do the the rides claim "feet of Vertical" or "feet of climbing".  Feet of Vertical would include descending which appears consistent for both rides.  5500 x 2 =11,000, and 6,300 x 2 = 12, 600.
